Leket Israel Tzedakah Project (pdf)
What is
Leket israel?
- Leket Israel was founded in 2003 to rescue
excess nutritious food that would have otherwise
been destroyed and redirect it to people in
need.
- Leket has become Israel’s umbrella
organization for donations of surplus food.
- Leket provides more than 110 tons of food per
week to over 230 soup kitchens, homeless
shelters, senior citizen centers and other
social service organizations around Israel.
What should you do?
Take the envelope, fill it up and bring it back
to your classroom teacher any time
before May 16th. If every child brings
an envelope containing at least $5 we can easily
meet our goal. If you would rather write a
check, make it payable to the North Shore
Congregation Israel marked “for Leket.”

Partners in Mitzvah (Shituf Mitzvah) Hunger
Project
How can
you join us to make a difference?
Please
partner with us in our ongoing community effort
to combat hunger.
Special Partnership Ongoing Opportunities:
The Partners in Mitzvah Photomontage
Beginning on Mitzvah Day and continuing
throughout the school- year we will be “growing”
a photo mural of members of our community
involved in combating hunger in a variety of
synagogue sponsored programs. Our goal is to
capture the image of every student in our school
becoming a partner in Mitzvah. So do something
to make the world a better place, and make sure
you take a picture. Then bring it in to add to
the mural.
