North Shore Seminar |
Post Confirmation students will continue their
education in the North Shore seminar,
which will meet on
Tuesday evenings at 6:15-7:45 PM.
If you thought Confirmation was the end of
Jewish Education- think again. Judaism is a life
long learning project. And the good news is – it
gets better as you get older. After Confirmation
students have a better idea about what they
like, what they don’t like, and what they might
like to learn next. We are here to help them
chart your course through this next phase of
their Jewish life.
North Shore Congregation Israel Goodman Center
for Jewish Education, in conjunction with the
Youth Group
(TYG), offers a unique opportunity for teens to
teach and learn from their peers in a relaxed
informal setting.
A seminar graduate from last year’s class
describes North Shore Seminar as:
“A fun relaxed environment in which
to talk about current issues in a Jewish way,
and Jewish issues in a current way.”
During Seminar students will explore topical
Jewish issues of their choosing, including: the
elections, Israel, sexuality, ethical choices,
political issues, cultural events, and more. In
addition, we plan to take advantage of any
opportunities that come our way during the year.
In the past few years we have met with famous
authors, gone to the movies, and hosted other
special events.
The best part is, the teens choose the topics.
They meet once a month over dinner, hang out for
a while, then get into a great conversation,
guided by their questions along with the help of
Rabbi Spicehandler and Neil Rigler.
Seminar is for juniors and seniors only.
There is a $145 fee for this program, which
includes all the dinners. If you
have more questions or thoughts to share contact
Neil at neilrigler@aol.com.
